The Basset Griffon Vendéen Club
Founded 1978
THE BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN CLUB was established in 1978 by enthusiasts who wished to nurture and enjoy the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, at that time the only one of the two breeds in the UK. They encouraged classes at dog shows and sought to promote and maintain the breed specific qualities through education. Promotion of the PBGV and GBGV continues to this day, with dedicated breeders and owners encouraging responsible development, the emphasis being on safeguarding the health of the BGV. To this end, the club adheres to Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and is also bound by its own Rules, designed to ensure maintenance of high standards within the Club.
